Green lasers vs Red

Why are green lasers brighter than red?

Green is the most visible laser light to the human eye making the Leica Lino L2G the brightest cross line laser on the market. But why are Green Lasers so much brighter than red?

Green light is up to 400% brighter and more vibrant to the human eye than red light, so green lasers appear brighter than red lasers of the same power because the human eye is most sensitive to the color green (specifically 555 nm). The sun’s power spectrum peaks in the green, so the human eye has evolved to be most sensitive there making green light seem much brighter than equally powerful red light.   Therefore, Leica have gone green, creating their brightest cross line laser ever!

The Leica Lino L2G has a brand new green diode which produces clean and crisp lines that are easily visible at up to 30m, twice what you’d get with a red laser equivalent. Therefore, there’s no need to use a detector when working in bright conditions and the 180° horizontal and vertical lines reach back over the unit giving greater flexibility in a variety of situations.

The Leica Lino L2G battery technology is impressive. Green lasers use more power than red so you’d think there’d be problem with battery power? But Leica have developed an impressive battery technology which allows the L2G to operate for 7 hours on full power  from 4 x AA batteries.
